The candidates to represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025 are now known. The participants at Söngvakeppnin were announced this Friday.
As has been usual in recent years, there are ten participants. Each semi-final will have five participants, with three advancing to the final, making a total of six – a change in the format. Another change is that there will no longer be a super final.
The songs have also been released. At this stage, all of them are in Icelandic, but the finalists may choose another language for the grand final if they make it there – and this decision will then be binding for the ESC.
The semi-finals will take place on February 8 and 15 at the RVK Studios in Reykjavik, with the grand final scheduled for February 22. In the semi-finals, the results will be determined solely by the public, while in the grand final, an international jury will account for 50% and the public for the other 50%.
