Georgia is open to hosting the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) 2025. The country won this year’s edition with To My Mom by Andria Putkaradze, but unlike the adult Eurovision version, there is no automatic right to host the following year’s event.
Tinatin Berdzenishvili, director of GPB, told the broadcaster’s website that they are open to organizing next year’s edition: “From here, we will go into a meeting with the European Broadcasting Union, where we’ll discuss what and how it will happen, but we are ready to host Junior Eurovision in our country”.
According to the website escplus.es, Georgia’s head of delegation, Natia Mshvenieradze, also expressed interest in hosting JESC 2025: “We know how to do it, and all of you are invited”, she said during the press conference.
For several years, it has been common for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to choose the winner of JESC to host the contest the following year. However, there have also been several instances where this has not happened. This year, for example, France declined the opportunity after hosting twice in three years and with the added pressure of the Paris 2024 Olympics. As a result, Spain hosted the contest, following its second-place finish in 2023.
