The Melodifestivalen 2025 has begun, with the first two acts qualified for the final of Sweden’s selection for Eurovision Song Contest (ESC): John Lundvik and Maja Ivarsson.
In the first heat, six participants performed at the Coop Norrbotten Arena in Luleå, starting with Albin Johnsén feat. Pa. The last to perform was Linnea Henriksson. The stage also hosted guests Käärija and Hooja, who performed their new song San Francisco Boy.
In the first round of voting, John Lundvik was announced as the winner of the night. The artist is aiming to return to the ESC, where he previously participated in 2019. The other five contestants moved on to the second round of voting.
Maja Ivarsson was the most voted after that phase, securing second place in the heat. As for Meira Omar, she will go to the «second chance» round, which will take place during the fifth heat.
