The lyrics of Malta’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025 have been approved by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Kant, performed by Miriana Conte, faced criticism. The word, in Maltese, means «Singing», but its pronunciation is very similar to a highly obscene word in English. Scott Mills, BBC Radio 2 presenter, even suggested that the British broadcaster might not air the song because of this.
However, Miriana Conte confirmed on TVM+ that the EBU accepted the song, and there are no issues. The artist admitted that changes will be made: “It’s obvious that the song will be revamped, but it will not change; it will stay the same”.
Malta will participate in the second semifinal on May 15, aiming to return to the final, which they have missed since their seventh-place finish in 2021.
