The semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025 were drawn this Tuesday. The event will take place in Basel, Switzerland, on May 13, 15, and 17.
The allocation draw was held in the same city during a ceremony that also included the handover of the host city insignia between Malmö and Basel. The exact running order will be set later on.
Each of the 31 countries participating in the semi-finals was assigned to one of the two semi-finals. Due to the odd number of participants, the second semi-final will have one more competitor (16) than the other (15).
The draw also determined which semi-final the directly qualified countries (host nation Switzerland, along with the Big 5 – Germany, Spain, France, Italy, and the United Kingdom) will vote in and perform in.
