Australia will not return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC) in 2025. The country’s absence extends since 2020.
According to the Eurofestivales website, the broadcasters SBS and ABC have ruled out participation in the event, which currently has neither dates nor a location announced following Georgia’s victory in 2024.
As with the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), Australia made its JESC debut in 2015. It participated uninterruptedly until 2019, but in 2020, the year of the pandemic, it withdrew and has not returned since.
In all of its participations, the Oceanic country achieved top-ten results, with the worst performances being two eighth-place finishes. In 2017 and 2018, it secured third places.
