Ten competitors were expected in the Norwegian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) 2025… but there will now be only nine in Melodi Grand Prix. Angelina Jordan and Lavrans Svendsen withdrawn at the last moment.

There were two withdrawals. One of them was from Angelina Jordan, whose mother Sara Astar revealed that the devastating fires in Los Angeles contributed to the decision.

The artist, quoted by TV2, expressed her disappointment: “I was really looking forward to it. I had meetings with NRK and everything was going so well and was so clear. I’m so sorry I couldn’t participate. The song was finished, mixed, and we worked on it for months. Everyone loved the song and truly believed in it. This is really sad”.

The other withdrawal was from Lavrans Svendsen, who left yesterday according do NRK.  The broadcaster NRK and music director Tarjei Strøm did not reveal any reasons, only stating: “There is no drama about it”.
