Ana María Bordas is the new Chair of the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group. The professional from the Spanish broadcaster RTVE was unanimously elected for a two-year term, replacing Bakel Walden from the Swiss SRG SSR, who will step down after the ESC 2025.
Three other heads of delegation were elected to the Reference Group: Carla Bugalho (RTP, Portugal); Claudia van der Pas (AVROTROS, Netherlands); and Molly Plank (DR, Denmark).
Last year, Ana María Bordas was the executive producer of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Spain. She is the Director of Content Production at RTVE and has been the Spanish head of delegation at the ESC since 2017.
In a statement, the future Chair of the Reference Group said: “I am honoured and excited to take on the role of Chair of the Reference Group from June. It’s a privilege to follow in Bakel’s footsteps, and I’m eager to build on the great work that has already been achieved. I look forward to working with the team to develop actions to reinforce the ESC brand and ensure that all delegations feel more involved and engaged in our work”.
