Emis Killa has withdrawn from the 2025 Sanremo Festival due to allegations regarding his involvement in an investigation anti-mafia.

The case involves the leaders of the ultra-fan groups of AC Milan and Inter Milan, leading to 19 arrests. The rapper has also been banned by Milan police from attending football matches for three years due to an incident of violence during a game.

Emis Killa responded to the news via Instagram: “I learned from the newspapers that I am under investigation (I was only notified of the ban, which is an administrative and not a criminal act). If this is true, it will be important for the investigation to proceed and for justice to work in peace without controversy, pressure, and media circuses. After 15 years in my career, I was happy to participate in my first Sanremo. I thank Carlo Conti for wanting me, but I prefer to step back and not participate. I trust that everything will be resolved as soon as possible, for the best, and I hope to participate in a Sanremo where music is the focus”.

The artistic director of the Sanremo Festival, Carlo Conti, issued a statement expressing: “I regret Emis Killa’s decision to withdraw from Sanremo. I understand that his mental state does not allow him to fully enjoy the week of music at the festival with serenity”.

It is worth noting that the winner of the Sanremo Festival has the right to represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC).
