Ten years later, Måns Zelmerlöw is returning to compete in Melodifestivalen 2025. The 2015 winner, who brought Sweden to win the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) that year, is now attempting to recreate his success.
The 38-year-old artist was announced on Tuesday as one of the 30 participants in the competition. Måns will perform the song Revolution, which he co-wrote alongside David Lindgren Zacharias, Ola Svensson, and Sebastian Atas.
Interestingly, none of these collaborators contributed to the creation of Heroes, the song that earned Måns his Eurovision triumph. His journey in Melodifestivalen 2025 will begin in the fourth heat, scheduled for February 22 at the Malmö Arena. Coincidentally, in 2015, he also competed in the fourth heat and advanced directly to the grand final.
Will history repeat itself a decade later? The answers will unfold on February 22 and March 8 next year. Nevertheless, Måns Zelmerlöw’s return has already become one of the most exciting highlights of this year’s competition.
Two other participants in Melodifestivalen 2025 also have past Eurovision experience but achieved much less success: the band Arvingarna and John Lundvik. Among the songwriters, there is also a song co-written by Loreen (Eurovision winner in 2012 and 2023) and Tusse (Sweden’s representative in 2021).
Although Måns Zelmerlöw is only now returning to compete in Melodifestivalen, he has remained closely connected to the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) since his victory. He was one of the hosts in 2016, performed as a guest in 2019 and 2021, and also hosted Melodifestivalen in 2021, where he appeared as a guest performer the year before.
